Case Study Croatia
The MineWolf operated by
MKA*Deminig Ltd., the largest demining company in Croatia, continues to achieve excellent results. From May 2006 - October 2007, the machine has cleared numerous minefields in multiple locations in Croatia; Sisak, Karlovac, Osijek, Orahovica, Vočin, Gospic, and Nova Gradiska. The MineWolf has successfully engaged and cleared both AP (PMA-2A, PMA1, PMA4, Prom) and AT mines (CMA6, CMA3) suffering no serious damage.
According to the LANDMINE MONITOR REPORT 2005, Croatia reported that there remained 1,174 square kilometres of mined and suspected mined areas, affecting 121 towns and municipalities in 12 counties.
The areas successfully cleared included a variety of challenging terrain and gradients. The majority of mined areas are woods and forest (about 54 %), followed by agricultural land (17 %), underbrush (11 %), meadows and pastures (9 %), infrastructure and houses (2 %), and with the rest described as “other” areas, including heavily metal-contaminated ground.
Hillside demining with the MineWolf
Since delivery of the unit to MKA*Deming, it has successfully cleared more than 4,690,000 square meters during the period May 2005 - October 2007.
After thorough initial training by MineWolf Systems, the entire demining program is managed and run by Croatian personell who operate, maintain and repair the machine in a highly efficient way.
