MineWolf presented by NPA at the 8th Meeting of State Party in Jordan

The Eighth Meeting of States Parties to the Ottawa Mine Ban Treaty was held from 17th to 22nd November 2007 in Jordan. The meeting was attended by more than 800 delegates from 115 countries as well as representatives from civil society and international agencies.

          

On the 17th November Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) and the National Committee for Demining and Rehabilitation’s (NCDR) arranged a field trip to present NPA's operation in Jordan.

The MineWolf has been part of the NPA humanitarian demining program in Jordan since October 2006. Since then more 1,400,000 m² have been cleared by NPA along the Israeli Border in Wadi Araba and Aqaba.

Background

The Mine Ban Treaty was signed in Ottawa, Canada on 3 December 1997. In the same year, the ICBL and its then coordinator Jody Williams were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their role in achieving the treaty.
